MARY GERLITZ, co-founder
and administrative coordinator, was also the primary keyboard player for the group. She studied organ as an undergraduate
at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon, where she received a bachelor's degree in music. She was organist at Bel
Air Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles for seventeen years. Concurrently she has worked in a variety of administrative positions
at the University of Southern California where she was presently administrative coordinator for the honors general education
programs. In a brief leave from USC, she also held the position of administrator for the Orange County Pacific Symphony. She
held the position of Associate Organist at First Methodist Church, Santa Monica and was active as a guest organist at various
churches in the Southern California area.
We are sad beyond measure to report that Mary Gerlitz passed away after
a short illness on August 1, 2013.
A memorial tribute to Mary, a remarkable musician and human being, was posted at the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences,
where Mary worked for the past 44 years.
